I got this system because my first one finally RROD'd and wasn't in warranty anymore. This is a guarantee of 3 years with an Xbox since even if the system does break down, it will be replaced for free.

I was used to my older Xbox that sounded like you had a box fan beside you the whole time. This is considerably quieter and after a 9 hour session of COD last night, didn't even really get warm.

Good system, good games, good buy. Also did not know that the newer arcade system come with a wireless controller (normally $30-40).

HOWEVER, if you do not already have an Xbox system get an elite or the MW2 bundle because the hard drive is essential.

I recently purchased the new 360 with the Jasper chipset to replace my old one which had revisited the red ring of death, ever after Microsoft supposedly fixed it about a year and a half ago. I purchased this model because I already had a hard drive which I was easily able to set up on this system and I can say that I'm overall happy with the purchase. The best part of the new Xbox is that it is much quieter than the old system which is very appreciated. My only hope now is that Microsoft has improved the reliability of these systems because the previous generation was only about 10 deaths short of a class action lawsuit.

I've always wanted an Xbox 360, ever since the very night it was released. Seeing people standing in line, anticipating the release of the first console to jumpstart the next generation of gaming got me excited. However, several weeks and months after the release of the console I began to hear dreaded stories of almost everyone's console failing on them. I held off on purchasing an Xbox 360 due to these drastic claims. I instead waited and got a PS3 a couple of weeks after Sony launched them. I loved the hours I got out of my PlayStation 3, and the games to choose from were excellent, so were the graphics. After I began to see some really interesting looking games come out exclusively on the 360 (Left 4 Dead, Gears of War, Mass Effect, etc.) my craving to finally purchase one overcame me. I decided to purchase an Xbox 360 after doing more research on the RRoD issue that plagued earlier consoles. I learned that Microsoft has been gradually attempting to completely solve the problem by changing the size of the CPU and GPU with each new remodel they released. The company also began to shrink the power supply voltage in attempts to decrease the overall heat output of the console. So, after learning all of this I went out and purchased an Xbox 360 Arcade. I made sure to look for all of the indicators that point to having the newest chipset, codenamed "Jasper". After purchasing it, and taking it home, I saw the 150w power supply that went along perfectly with the numbers on the back of the console to verify that I had indeed got a Jasper. After playing the console for several hours, and then pressing my hand against the vents that dissipate the hot internal air, I actually discovered that this newer model actually remains cooler than even my PS3 does. A shocking discovery for me. Even if I get a hardware failure, I can still see myself purchasing another console immediately afterward simply because of the extensive library and features that the console contains. Now I use my Xbox 360 on a daily basis, and the large selection of games that I still wish to purchase continues to grow. My PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 both get an equal amount of playing time, and sometimes it's hard to decide which one to play since they are both excellent consoles with their own great lineups of exclusives. I'd recommend the 360 to anyone looking for a next generation console since it has the widest variety of games out of the three currently on the market. My only complaint about the console is the d-pad on the controller. The d-pad is designed exactly like the one used on the Sega Genesis. It features all four directions connected as one solid button, whereas other consoles usually have each direction of the d-pad separated from the rest of the directions. This is a minor inconvenience and can be overlooked since the games are still 100% playable with the d-pad, I just wish it was designed different. I've been loving the hours of playtime I've received from this console, I just wish I had purchased an Xbox 360 earlier is all!
