I'm using this colorimeter with a new Eizo monitor that has its own profiling software so I did not install the I1Display2 software. However, there's no question this is a quality product. It is also recommended by virtually all high end monitor makers.

I tried both the Eye One LT and the Huey Pro before buying the i1 display 2. This is an expensive product, but is reliable, strong and powerful. It uses a lot of color patches to calibrate (the more the better), it allows for precise pre-calibration (adjusting the brightness, contrast and RGB output of the monitor before the actual calibration) so you get better results. The main (and probably only) difference between the LT and 2 versions is the ability to use it in more than one monitor. You can always upgrade the LT for $99 and it will perform as the v2.
Just remember to keep it clean, I store it in a $1 sterilite container.
The RGB precalibration is not an easy thing to do and not all monitors allow for RGB controls. But in case yours do, always adjust the channel with the biggest deviation first and then adjust the next worst ans so long.

After reading reviews of many satisfied customers, I purchased the Eye-One Display 2 color calibrator. It took me several hours to determine that it is not compatible with Windows Vista, even though the packaging said it was. The instructions were vague at best. Even after downloading what I thought was the upgrade from the X-Rite website, the software would not run because it could not find the "device". I then spent a long time on the phone with X-Rite customer support who graciously figured out that it was the driver and everything was good. .... until the next time I used it, the calibrator fell apart in my hands -- apparently broken in half. So now I am the proud owner of a broken color calibrator that cost me several hundred dollars. Other than that.... the calibrator seems to adjust the colors properly, but you need to press the device into the monitor, otherwise if the device is lightly hanging on your monitor, you will get an inaccurate reading.

This product was purchased at the same time as a new Epson 3880 printer. The written instructions are virtually non-existent. However, the tutorials on CD are adequate. The product works exactly as advertised. Prints made on the 3880 matched the computer LCD extremely well. I am very satisfied with this product.

After reading many reviews I decided on the One Eye. The software is easy to use and the results are very good. I have both a La Cie Electron IV CRT and Dell LCD 2007FP (ISP Panel based on serial number). Both screens calibrated very well. I was surprised that the $350 Dell LCD calibration matched my printing output almost perfectly without having to buy a $1500 Eizo or La Cie LCD.
The reason I bought the One Eye was for photo editing. Now my screen closely matches the putput.
