TurboTax is probably the best software product value on the market today. For a fraction of the cost of engaging even a local CPA to prepare your tax returns, this intuitive, easy to use program will prepare federal and state tax returns in which you can have confidence that they will be accurate and follow I.R.S. regulations. It will save money on preparation fees, but also it will help lower your tax by picking up all legitimate deductions which you may overlook.

I always wait until the last minute of the last day of the last month to do my taxes. This year I decided to do them myself as opposed to going to a "professional." TurboTax was a breeze. It asked questions and I filled in the numbers. Just like sitting across a desk from a tax person.

I had used Turbo Tax for the first time in 2007 on my daughter's recommendation. Liked it then but loved this 2008 home & business version. They make it so easy even a....Well, you know the rest. (Sorry, Cavemen!)Easy installation via CD (and I am always nervous about installation as I am not a computer whiz by any means.) They walk you through all aspects of your federal form by asking simple questions. As you answer, your form is filled in to include any special schedules you need to file. TT does a final check for possible errors, lets you know what they are ,and allows you to correct them (again by asking simple questions.)You can stop when you are tired, save the file, close the computer ,and go back to the very place you left off. TT prints your forms, e-files,even giving you likely refund dates. State form done with same program. Information imported from Fed form. Can e-file state with charge of $19.95 or print and mail it in for $0.00. Have I mentioned the support? 5 stars from me all the way around.

Just finished my taxes on the last possible day. I have a small business and a few investments. Turbo Tax works OK but often asks questions that I wasn't quite sure how to answer. The included "Help" is often sparse and primarily depends on online forums which are essentially just a gathering place for other baffled taxpayer-customers to offer condolences to each other. I buy a tax prep software package because I expect them (Intuit) to have done the homework for me and save me from having to look at IRS publications. In most places it does, but in several places it does not and leaves you hanging wondering what you should do. Your choices are: to guess, or, to go with the answer that costs you the most and (hopefully) reduces your chances of getting audited, or, to wade into those nightmarish IRS documents and try your best to figure it out. Ultimately though, if TurboTax was an OUTSTANDING product you wouldn't be left having to make that choice so often.
In all fairness though, our asinine tax code is really the problem.
