I really like how small it is, and that it doesn't need a separate power cord. The only think I don't like, is it tries to back up my hard drive every time I plug it in.... which could be a setting I haven't tried to find.
It's fast, quite and I haven't had it long, but so far so good.

Looks nice.
Easy plug and play.
Software, a little less than awesome. Alignment on screen is off center and leads to a lack of comfidence, but it is working pretty good for manual and automatic backups. Not very much space lost to software, or operating system.

I did a little research for external hard drives and was originally going to go with one that you had to plug in thats was a litle cheaper but after reading online reviews i decided to go ahead and get this portable toshiba one. I know it does not have the name like seagate or western digital but it works great. It was simple to instal-just plug and play. You can drag items from you hard drive and they transfer very easily. I would definitely recommend it.

I have had the Toshiba external hard drive for a few weeks now. I still am not sure if I know how to use it. There were no instructions that came with the product, although I learned from an online question that by clicking on a spot on the screen (after plugging in the hard drive) I could find the directions. This is not the best way, at least for me.
So I think this will work for me but I'm still not certain about how to use it: leave it plugged in all the time, and draw out and use up more energy, or plug it in only when I want to back up my internal hard drives. Fortunately, I have family members who will help me with this.

What more can I say - no problems working with Ubuntu-based Crunchbang 9.04. Great way to save important data and photos.
