I purchased this unit based on all the positive reviews. My experience was exactly the opposite. My first unit arrived. During the setup I noticed that the on/off button did not function. I packed it up and requested a replacement from Amazon. They were great and overnighted a replacement unit. Thank you, Amazon.
The replacement unit arrived. This time, the first thing I did was check the on/off button. It also did not function. Thermaltake must be having quality control issues. This time I requested a refund. I've spent enough time with this.

What else can be said for a dock that can use both 2.5" and 3.5" drives and is both PC and Mac compatible? [...]. It's perfect. Really. There's absolutely nothing wrong with this product. It just goes to show that brand names mean nothing. I owned an 80gb Acom-data external hard drive for like 7 years which is probably the longest lasting hard drive I ever owned. Nothing from Seagate, WD, Maxtor, Toshiba etc. came close. Same here with this dock. I've never heard of the company but for [...] you can't go wrong. It just works!

I bought this docking station to attempt recovery of data on a failed hard drive that I had removed from my computer. The unit is well built, easy to use and was quite simply more then I expected. I was able to recover my data by a combination of freezing and orientation of the failed drive. The unit is so simple and quick to use that I picked up a new hard drive to use for backup. Instead of putting it in the computer I use the docking station to back up my files. It makes it easy to store backups off site and return the drive for updating.
It is well made, simple to use and performs very well. I didn't find a single flaw with it.

I know, I know... BlacX, Docking Station, Hard Drive -- all these things seems to indicate you have sex with this product. You do not. If you actually want it to plug hard drives into, be my guest, but I mean, come on, it's 2009, you want to get a little crazy with your peripherals, I don't blame you. Just remember that this product isn't compliant with your older hard drives, so only SATA hard drives will work.
