I enjoy playing the Sims 2 because of the expansion packs. You could go on dates, go to college, etc. However, Sims 3 is like starting from scratch. Although it has a lot of cool features, such as the personality traits and difference in body sizes, it doesnt really compare to the Sims 2. SO, I got World's Adventures and its...okay... if you want a slight change. I was really interested in having a Sims go to France but the whole place looks just like the regular Sims 3 suburbs...I was expecting more FRANCE. There is really nothing much that deferentiates it. If you go to the art gallery, all you see are Egyptian and Chinese art. If you go to do an adventure, you find an Egyptian tomb in someone's basement. The cafe, should have been more like the Sims 2 Open for Business and the city should have been more populated. it is pretty empty. some of the residents also have houses completely empty...Making and naming the Nectar is interesting, but it does get repetative. Selling the Nectar is not as exciting as it was made to sound, you just sell it to the woman at the cash register. Not really...exciting. THe good thing is that you get to actually enter a place not wait until your Sims come out.
Oh well, what can I say? I'll try China and Egypt but France is definetly missing that Je ne sais quoi.

When I first installed this game, it installed a patch with it. Then there was also a patch available in the launch menu. I started playing the game and when I got around to saving it. It didn't work. Turns out it was the patch and EA did fix it which is good. I love the idea of going to one of the three places and instead of just sitting there on vacation you can go on different type of adventures to search for different items or just to find out someone's opinion on something. I love the new clothes that came with the game. I'm glad that EA decided to do something a little different to this EP so people didn't think it was just a vacation pack. I like the new traits personally the photography, but I still have to figure out the taking a photo picture. I would highly recommend this game to any of The Sims 3 players. I have always been a fan of The Sims and I own all of The Sims games up to date. I gotta say that those walking mummies do creep me out a bit, but it makes the vacation/adventure more interesting. On the bright side, I have no glitches/bugs in my game which I'm probably one of the lucky ones, but in the past I have never had a problem with bugs and glitches. If I did it was because of a mod/hack I had in my game.

Anyways, I give this game a 5 out of 5. Have fun Sim Players!

I've actually had pretty good luck over the years when it comes to the Sims games. While others complained of bugs and glitches and issues installing it and conflicts with their system, I easily installed and played my games with nary an issue. Until this one.

First the game kept crashing to the desktop after 20 minutes of playing. Also, my game would start and no sounds except for the load music would play for the first 15 minutes. I have a new computer. It more than meets the requirements to play the game. I do not have any custom content or hacks..what's in my game is what came with it. I uninstalled and reinstalled, and that fixed the crashing and the music issue. But then I kept getting the "error 16" save error. So I updated the game with the new patch, and that was fixed.

Now that I could play it for more than 20 minutes at a time, I set about adventuring in France. Very cool tombs and museums to explore, mysteries to solve, locals to help, and just a fun time all around. But there are still glitches. Things randomly vanish from the inventory. I cannot bring back the nectar maker from France. It does not come over with my sim when she travels home. I've tried twice now and it just doesn't work. She caught a load of frogs while she was over there, and the first time she came home she managed to bring them back with her. The second time, they all vanished from inventory.

There have also been a few glitches with missions. My sim couldn't complete one due to the "report in" action cancelling itself every time she tried. The sim she was attempting to report to never showed up anywhere again after that. There was also another mission where she returns a skeleton to a family crypt..but the mission vanished completely after she accepted it. Now she's got a skeleton in her inventory and nothing to do with it.

It is a really fun game once you get past the glitches. Also, they have fixed the "puffy face" issue. The new sim I created does not look oddly bloated the way the sims in the base game do. The new lifetime rewards are a nice bonus and worth earning, the graphics are really beautiful, and there are a lot of new plants and trees available in build mode. There are some really nice new decorations and furnishings as well. Only a handful of new hairstyles and clothing, but some new makeup and jewelry that are nice.

It is worth it, in my opinion. It's a fun game (I played for several hours last night and didn't get bored), and now that my sim doesn't look like the Stay-Puft Marshmallow man, it's nicer to look at. But it does have glitches that I wish had been fixed before it was released.

First a qualifier: I've been playing The Sims on PC since its inception. That said, I owned all of the EPs for Sims 1 and 2 and now Sims 3. I bought World Adventures on launch date and spent the next 10 hours struggling to play it. Before I could play it, I was advised that I had to install the new patch from EA so I did that at the same time. Now I'm not sure if it's the game, or the patch, but 90% of the houses I'd built and the families I'd created and raised were deleted by the addition of this EP. Additionally I am unable to save my progress due to "error 16" which seems to have affected everyone. EA has now released a patch to address that particular issue, however they have not come up with a resolution yet for the numerous other issues...

Aside from the households being deleted, there is also an obvious problem with my sims no longer being able to interact with each other. So they can't chat, tell jokes, get to know each other, flirt, "woohoo", or anything else that would require social interaction. Which means essentially, that until they patch this game, your sims will die out because you won't be able to form relationships that lead to child bearing.

There are other minor inconveniences such as inventories being deleted, reward objects no longer working and needing to be deleted, etc... My advice is too not buy the game right now. Wait until it's been fixed so that you don't have to endure the frustration of a virtually unplayable game.

On a more positive note, the scenary in the new locations are breathtaking and the game offers some fun new skills to build, but once again you can't really interact with anyone so all you can do is try to complete the missions.

I have been playing the game for a day now and I think it is a big step up from just playing The Sims 3. I love the adventures and while I haven't played all of the adventures yet I know they will keep me entertained for quite a while. It's true that World Adventures does not come with a lot of building items or anything that most simmers would like(sure there are quite a few new outfits, accessories, a few hairstyles and some new makeup but I think the purpose of the game is the traveling part and the adventures not the stuff that comes with the game. I look forward to playing all the adventures and seeing what new things World Adventures has to offer for my sims.

Story and Gameplay
Like every The Sims game, the story behind the World Adventures Expansion is whatever you want to make of it, but in this case within the realm of international travel. And why not, since what sim doesn't need a vacation. Players choose from environments set Egypt, France or China, with the possibility of others via download. Similarly, gameplay follows the same well-worn path familiar to veteranThe Sims players, and easy to pick up for those coming to the franchise for the first time. Players create their sims as they like, customizing everything from physical characteristics, all the way down to personality traits, habits, etc. They can mix with other sims, build relationships, start families and even die. Because this expansion is based around travel, your sims can also discover rich, new cultures, develop brand-new skills and abilities and explore and adventure through realistic environments. New skills related to these destinations include photography, martial arts, and nectar making (a sim beverage) among others. As part of of the exotic locales available, sims can get adventurous and explore the caves and tombs of Egypt and China. Here they will put their new adventure related abilities to work as they participate in Indiana Jones like adventures full of excitement and even danger, including some not-so friendly mummies and the Grim Reaper.
