This is a pretty good book. A good reference book I'd say. It's advanced, yet an easy read. I learned alot and it has been helpful. I'm just wondering if I should get a more basic one that holds my hand as well. Not sure about that yet... Like I said, some stuff is advanced and it takes awhile to understand and some stuff I have yet to understand. I figured if I get a step by step book, that this book will become much more clear.

I just wanted to say that I am computer programmer for 10 years until I got laid off. I have read many computer programming books and I have learned to know that there are a number of writing and teaching styles from various publishers and authors. I do know how to pick my computer programming books.

When it came to picking a video editing book, I was stumped. There were a few video editing books out there. Let alone anything for version 7! The choice was few. I am not a fan of fat books that are over 1000 pages long. As a programmer, I understand the reason behind it. When I saw that Steve's book was less than 200 pages and the reviews were great, I was a little taken back by it. It made me wonder if it really is a good book. Does Steve show you what you need to know? It was kinda hard considering my programming background with fat books. I am looking at a skinny book on video editing? Mmmmm...

So I read it in a week. Boy! That was a great book! It shows you everything you need to know about using Adobe Premiere Elements 7. The point is that it does not hold your hand giving you step by step to make a movie from capturing a device to burning a DVD. If you are looking for that boring type book, look somewhere else. What this book does is tells you where to look for things and how to use it. The rest is up to your creativity and your knowledge.

YES! When I first launched Adobe Premiere Elements 7, I was totally lost and I didn't know where to begin. (Kinda weird coming from a guy who is a computer programmer where those application developing software is exactly the same thing.) I know programming and video editing is like apples and oranges. But the concept is the same! Remember when you first had your hand on the computer mouse and you didn't know where to click first? This is what this book is about, it shows you the ropes and how to get comfortable with Premiere Elements. By the time, I was done reading the book, I was already making video clips and making fun movies.

What this book will not teach is the elements or features of the application, it is up to you to explore them. For example, the book will show you how to add text to the video but it up to you to learn how to make it animated or change colors. It does show you where they are so you can explore on your own. That is what I mean about showing the ropes. It shows you where everything is (well not the advance stuff but most commonly used stuff) so you know where to go. So don't be afraid to explore what Premiere Elements has to offer you once you are done reading this book. That little book is all you need to get comfortable with Premiere Elements.

Steve's writing style is so good that I won't hesitate to buy more of his books in the future. His name is on my list of good authors who write great books. The way he teaches you to use Premiere Elements is one of the best I have read for any book. If the other authors can copy his style on using iTunes, MS Office, etc, we would save a few more trees as the book won't be as thick!

I bought it for learning my Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0.
Every subject is treated very wisely! Easy to read and easy to understand!
I personally feel that I owe a lot to Mr.Steve Grisetti.(I would not improve myself without reading this book!)
    Thanks a lot!

This book has it all. Bad screenshots (virtually unreadable). Confusing and/or incomplete "how-tos." Even a lousy index. Either buy some other book (which I'm about to do) or rely on the Help screens.

I purchased Premier Elements 7 to do a quick video project on a very tight timeline. I consider myself a power user having done extensive audio production projects but I struggled through the interface of PE7 and could not make progress. Thank goodness I had the book shipped overnight. I was able to quickly learn the depths of the interface and get my project done successfully. The book is written very clearly and points out important aspects of the interface that are NOT intuitive. Great book, a life saver for me.
