I played this game for about 30 minutes one morning and thought I was about to die. It is no joke, especially if you are not in very good shape like myself. I must say that I was in a lot of pain for the next couple of days after that workout and I didn't even finish the whole thing, just the first circuit. If you can stick to it then I am sure that it would be an excellent way to workout, lose weight, or tone up. Just make sure you are suitably warmed up first ;)

My mother who is an over weight diabetic bought this game and I did it with her over the weekend. But what we discovered was that things are as they appear. What do I mean, well we picked the option to enable the balance board with the game. But as my mom got tired and sat down, the game kept going, kept giving her calorie burns and kept counting as if she were still doing the game even though she wasn't doing anything not even moving the remote. So if you play it as if you were watching a DVD it is a really good work out but doing it and thinking that it is acknowledging your moves is another. Also once you start a session you can not stop without loosing all of the work you have done. And even the easiest work out is a lot for someone who is really over weight. There were somethings I couldn't even do and I am 36 yrs old and 35lbs over weight, and hike on the weekends. So my mother had a really hard time with it.

I've had the game for more than a month now. As a way of background, I am a reasonably fit male in mid-30s. Used to be quite active, but now between kids and office work, I need to figure a way to workout at home. So I bought the game to guide me through basic cardio workouts.
My impression of the canned routines is so far positive. The game does deliver decent tempo and makes you sweat. Some exercises are more awkward than others, but if you follow the routine it will definitely give you a good workout. I also like that the game does not get fixated on tracking my moves. This is the part that can kill a game experience unless it is perfect. So TBL's hands off approach to tracking works for me. I can follow the moves myself.
I also don't care for bells and whistles. Advice, cookbook, challenges, give me a break. All I want is a decently paced workout when I have time for it.
This brings me to The Biggest Problem with the game. The choice of exercises is ok, but for the life of me I cannot figure out how to put together a reasonable custom routine. To begin with, you only get 9 slots. It is possible to increase the number of circuits, but I could not find a way to use more than 9 exercises. But the worst is how the game links them. You don't get smooth transitions as in canned routines. Instead you get standing or occasionally sitting inserted by the game after _every_ exercise. This completely kills the pace of a custom routine making it unusable.
I hope I am missing something, because if it is indeed the case, it's pretty bad and the game developer owes us a working version.
The game gets 2 stars for missing a big part of advertised functionality. I rated fun as ok, though it is not the point in a game like this.

I was really excited when I heard this game was being released, but is has proven to be just ok, particularly if you really like the show. The game is overpriced for what you get. Clearly this game was rushed to the market without much investment into the product. Unfortunately you get tired and unimaginative graphics, confusing and non-existent instructions, and repetitive, droll voiceovers from the so-called trainers. And the worse part of the game were the: (1) very poor calibrations which means you could be doing twice the work of the characters onscreen, but the program often doesn't register it so I routinely "lose" challenges and fail to reach target exercise goals which for me was the whole appeal of the game;(2) the pre-programmed exercise sequences don't have a lot of variety and (3) some of the exercises could use more instructions and it would be nice if they showed some alternative versions of the exercise for those who need more help as they build up to the version shown.
Despite the deficiencies of the game, you can get a good workout doing it. If you don't get too hung up on not being able to "play" the Biggest Loser game because of the calibration issues and you instead focus on doing the exercises, you'll find yourself raising your heart rate and challenged by many of the upper level sequences.
My hope is that they come out with a more reasonably priced sequel that will improve upon the shoddy aspects of this game. It really is a travesty that The Biggest Loser allowed its name to be put on this game. If just 1/10th of the creativity put into producing the show was put into this product, it would have been 100% better.

I love the Biggest Loser television show so I was eager to purchase this game. I also have Wii Fit and EA Active and love each game for different reasons. This game is great and I was definately out of breath and sweating after completing the full body workout. My only complaint is that after working so hard my balance board and/or remote do not register all of the moves I have completed. I know that I have completed the exercises because my heart is pumping, however, it does become frustrating when Wii is not picking up your ENORMOUS effort. Also the calorie counter is way off so basically just ignore it..you will see for yourself if you purchase this game. Overall, great workout.
