I purchased this wireless WiFi unit so that I could stream my Photos and Movies that I have stored on my PC's to the TV via the Blu-Ray. I tried several times to set up the Blu-Ray to accomplish this but was unsuccessful. I contacted tech support and they informed me that, even though the literature on the BDP-S560 says it will do this, this model will not stream from a PC to the Blu-Ray. I was disappointed to say the least. I returned the Sony BDP-S560 to Amazon where I purchased it.
Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to play a Blue-Ray disk on it. I did watch a standard DVD and the picture and sound were fine.

I love everything about this Sony BDP-S560 Blu Ray disc player. My previous DVD player, also a Sony, could not be made to connect to my DSL service either by Sony of Verizon. This time, although Sony could not figure it out, Verizon was able to get it to connect wirelessly to my wireless router and it updates flawlessly. The picture and sound quality from DVD's and Blu Ray discs is breathtaking. A great unit.

I was expecting more from Sony - setup was simple enough but i found the player harder to use than earlier Sony DVD models -maybe this is just the price of BlueRay technology. If you only want to play a disk, ok the picture quality was fine. But functions like fast forward were unusable for DVDs, normally fast forward shows the action speeded up, but here there was a pause and a sequence of jerky jumps ahead without any continuity of motion - you couldn't even tell how fast you were forwarding, one second, two seconds, per jump.... Slow motion was similarly problematic. The startup screen was confusing even to someone who has used a half dozen dvd players and recorders in the past. I was hoping for the player to be just like a DVD player that could also play BlueRay disks.
