I love this game! I've been a big fan of trains since I was a kid (I had a model set and all of that), so this one was obviously a draw for me. They do a wonderful job of making the game detailed enough that you can learn a thing or two. The supply and demand relationship is well modeled, so it plays into the real world function of railroads, to move products or people en masse, from where they are to where they want to be.
It doesn't get too complicated though, and can be played well without having to pay too much attention to a myriad of details. Obviously, you'll do better if you keep an eye on the market and all of the contributing factors, but you won't crumble into bankruptcy if you fail to read a newspaper headline.
The graphics are nice too, and offer much animation to appreciate. I recommend this one for any train fan.

I brought this game because I love sid meier's game but this has to be his worst game by far. Even the demo is confusing and boring. Game play is below par.

The Game is good until it crashes because there is too much going on. Each and everytime I get 25-30 years into the game it Crashes and sends me back to the desktop. Even after downloading and installing the patch that was supposed to fix this problem it still occurs.

This is a good game. I will list some pros and cons:
Pros: Many maps to choose from, lots of trains, train table mode (thats when there is no money or competitors, it's just like playing on a train table.)
Cons: Well.... I can't think of any thing.

I could really get into the game, but it keeps crashing. I don't know if its because my computer is using Windows Vista or other reasons. I have downloaded the only patch and it didn' help much. IF these problems could be fixed then this would be one of my favorite game.
