Four short "areas" gets the initial play through done in a few hours. Some replay value as you unlock (buy) new costumes and go through the game with the unlocked characters in Free Play mode (where you can use all five characters and any special costumes you have bought/unlocked.

Fun, Scooby Doo based game that shows four of their earliest adventures. Takes place between the new Scooby Doo: The Mystery Begins TV/DVD movie and the original 1962 cartoon series.

PROS: Fun with four distinct story/theme areas (School where TV/DVD movie took place; Fun Park; Ship; Mansion). Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred all have distinct moves and personality. Unlocking/buying costumes allow for new moves in Explore (Free Play) where all five characters can be used (Similar to the Lego Star Wars / Batman / Indiana Jones but not as well done). Excellent value for the price.

CONS: Dislike the slow "Chase" levels. Some of the bosses are overly hard for a single player (Seem made for 2 players). Has several glitches that detract from the overall fun. Sometimes hard to figure out what to do next.

OVERALL: Good game at an extremely good price. Well worth the money despite a few glitches... especially if you like Scooby Doo. Fortunately, once you have gone through a section of story, you can skip that section and just replay the levels you want to. Hard to beat for the price.

I rented this game for my 7 year old son. It did not take him long to figure out the controls. The game has 4 Episode Games with 4 Levels within each Episode Game. The Gang has to collect scooby snacks, clues, break things to find more scooby snacks and clues, fight ghosts, witches and villains and at the end solve the mystery. The graphics are nice. The game is fun to play, but might lack the challenge some more complicated games offer. My son played through 3 Episode Games in one evening and finished the next day. He liked the game so much he started over again. I think we will put this game on Santa's list.

My seven year old nephews liked the game. They were excited that it was a Scooby Doo game. They found this game to be too easy though. Please note that they do not usually spend unlimited hours playing the games. They both said that they were done with it after one weekend. If your seven year old wants a bit of a challenge this might not be the game. Another note,.. good clean fun. Uncle Bruce.

My son loves Scooby Doo so I got him this game. He really liked it a lot. He finished the game pretty quickly however (much more quickly than most other games). I asked him how he liked it, and he said it was great. He said that he wants to play it again.

An outstanding game for your Scooby fan. My kids are huge fans of Scooby Doo and we've played every video game we could find on PS2, PSP, DS, and PC. First Frights is one of the best!

It has 4 Episodes/Mysteries. The graphics are just fine-nothing too outstanding but very good for the PS2 (crisp, clear, with good color). The controls are superb without any glitches or freezes and the voice acting does the job. My son is on his second playthrough. The game is not very difficult but he did have to battle some of the bosses more than once. It took him about 12 hours to get through the entire game. This is the perfect length for a 9 year old.

In comparison with some of the other SD games for the PS2 this is probably the easiest we've encountered. It is not like the Dora the Explorer or Diego games (those are ultra easy) and it has some challenge but it is nothing like some of the other SD games that are actually quite difficult in places. My kids also liked the PS2 version of Mystery Mayhem. They were less fond of the other Scooby games for the PS1 and PS2.

If you have a young Scooby fan (I would recommend the ideal ages to be about 7-12) I cannot recommend this title highly enough. I would consider it a must buy and a really great value for your money.
