I purchased this around a month back. The write quality is good. I had a problem once using it with ubuntu 9.10 but it may just be the OS problem. It worked fine with Windows 7 and XP. It is writing at good speeds and the noise level while writing is not quiet but is bearable. During normal read, noise level is low. Overall good buy for ~30 $. Would recommend it to others.

An excellent value, this drive features super fast burn speeds and lightscrible technology. It comes with a version of Nero which I find impossible to navigate when it comes to lightscribe labeling. As mentioned in other reviews this drive does not come with a power cable or seta cable.

This is my 2nd Samsung burner as I remember it (possibly more) and I think they are pretty much ok product after all. I would buy it again (if the price is right) period.

After popping this device into my pc, it was ready to go. Performed better than my expectations. It is very quite and has solid speed. I replace my and old optical drive for this one and all I needed was to purchase an SATA adapter separately since my pc didn't have SATA cables. The item comes without cables or any type of adapter. If you do need to purchase a SATA adapter, you can find one for around $20-$25. Overall this is a great optical drive to purchase, especially if you are looking to upgrade from an old one. Does come with Nero Essentials software which a good addition for burning and other digital tasks.
