I purchased Plants vs. Zombies on Halloween to keep me entertained while waiting for trick-or-treaters. Three days later I still can't get away from this game!
Plants vs. Zombies is an arcade style game starring, well, a bunch of plants that do battle against zombies who want to cross through your lawn and into your front door to chomp on you. Each plant (selected by you) has a special skill such as shooting peas, setting off a [cherry] bomb, or setting an entire row of lawn on fire like the fiery jalapeno does. Ai yi yi! Each time you complete a level, you discover a new plant with a special new ability you didn't have in the past. Unfortunately, you are only limited to a certain number of plants you can take with you to battle so you must choose carefully. To make matters worse, the zombies keep coming back even stronger. Soon you'll be taking on Zombie Elvis and his backup dancers while defending against zombies who've jumped into your swimming pool.
The concept sounds cheesy, and it is, but it provides just enough of a challenge to keep you entertained for hours. It's not extremely difficult, kids should be able to take to the game easily (and likely beat you at it) and parents need not be worried about gore as it's only cartoon violence.
Popcap has always made solid titles for casual gamers like me who just want to sit down and play for an hour without learning complex key combinations or facing time deadlines or other annoying habits. I have purchased the classic Bejeweled, Insaniquarium Deluxe, Heavy Weapon, and Feeding Frenzy 2 among others and have never been disappointed. Like shareware pioneers ID Software, these games are usually available for a free trial download or (my personal favorite) they can be tested online. Instead of complex and annoying copy protection that can make the game irritating or unplayable for PC users, (see Grand Theft Auto IV), Popcap stores a simple registration key on your computer that's good for five uses. Once my hard drive crashed and I lost all my games. A simple visit to the Popcap games website and I was able to restore them all without having to contact customer service. A rarity.
Plants and Zombies is highly recommended. It looks like I'm not alone since, as of the time of this writing, every other reviewer young and old has given this game five stars too.

Best Video Game EVER!!! Most Addictive Video Game EVER!!! One of the cutest and coolest Video Games EVER!!! Those who watch us play insist on trying it and soon go and buy their own copy! There are like twenty mini games in it! Also, the box has textured outlines.

this game is a must play, the gameplay is simple enough for beginners or people who dont play games often but also gets hard as it goes on for more devoted gamers. it is a must buy, definitely if you have insaniquarium then this is a must buy!

Throughout the game's four different play modes, and across its many levels players must use everything from peashooters and wall-nuts, to mushrooms, cherry bombs and more to mulchify 26 types of zombies before they can reach your front door.
Plants vs. Zombies is a tower defense strategy game, in which the player's goal is to stop their enemies, in this case zombies, from advancing across the game map and eventually invading their in-game house. This is done by using the variety of different plants available. Each of these possesses different attributes that make them effective against enemies both in a general sense, but also in some cases in a very specific ways against specific zombies. This is becasue zombies, like the plants, have specific attributes as well which can be equated to strengths and weaknesses. The strategy element of gameplay regards how players match these strengths and weaknesses across the game map and how they manage their plant resources overall. As part of managing these resources, players must also constantly seek to upgrade their plant arsenal. This is done by purchasing upgrades with money collected from fallen zombies, as well as rewards earned through success in the game's various gameplay modes. Game Modes Along with its fun-filled adventure mode, Plants vs. Zombies also comes with additional gameplay modes that are sure to keep the fun coming. These include: survival mode, an endless battle between you and the zombie horde where valuable skills are honed and stretegy perfected; a challenging puzzle mode; Zen GardenZen Garden; and a mini-games mode which includes unlockable zombie-themed versions of some of PopCap's famous casual games, including Bejeweled and Insaniquarium.
