I like the book but I'm having to read it carefully because it is very technical for someone who is new at this. I used to use HP Photosmart (very simple) and then bought PE7. However, I am learning quite a bit. I think it's a great reference tool. The illustrations are great too. I started with tuitorials, but once you close them out, you can't remember what to do! I can have the book open AT THE SAME TIME I am using my Photoshop to keep me on track. I also like learning the technical stuff on color, saving different types of files and what their best uses are, etc...I always wondered about all that. But you could skip over it if it disinterests you...and get to the editing part. The book even tells you that you can skip around to your favorite parts. I am happy with my purchase. This is my first "dummies" book.

The book is very informative. I do not believe that I could navigate Photoshop as quickly and as easily without this book. I am very satisfied with this book.

I agree with one of the other reviewers, ie if this is for dummies I need one for Morons. To be fair this is my first attempt at using a real photo editor so there is much for me to learn as I have discovered by trying to use this book. It does have some good hints and shortcuts and warnings but it is not for the neophite, at least, not this one.

Photoshop is not for beginners and neither is the dummies book. I can't even read the book and figure out how to work it. I am going to try to get someone to give me a crash course in person.

This book was my intro to graphics imaging, and I was quite enthusiastic about the prospect of learning the Photoshop Elements basics. Unfortunately, the reality fell far short of what I had imagined, and had been promised by the book.

I am not a techno-geek, and do not have an intuitive grasp of anything to do with computer technology. Everything I learn is a struggle, and I trusted a Dummies book to walk me through the basics of everything I needed to know.

This book assumes that the reader has substantial knowledge of computers, in that it uses technical language and concepts that are never explained. It also neglects to give you basic knowledge of what, exactly, some of the elements DO. I started reading about the magic wand, and kept yelling at the book, "But, what does it DO?!?!"

In short, this book was one of the most frustrating reads I have ever experienced. I am now learning PE7 from another book. Once I have learned how to use PE7, the Dummies book may be quite useful. Then again, maybe not.
