I just received my Photoshop Elements 5 for Dummies today. I figured I might as well learn how to use Elements 5, since it was included free with my Canon 8800f scanner (also from Amazon). I think this will be the perfect learning aid for me. It is concise, to the point, and best of all it takes me step-by-step through the different processes I will need to know to use Elements 5. It starts out very basic, as if I have never seen a photo editing application before; perfect for someone who is technically challenged, like me. Other books start off at some higher level, assumimg I already know the basics, so I am confused before I begin. It does contain many color photos and charts (come on Amazon, don't you think a color Kindle is overdue?). I do want to make a comment here about Amazon, since they do not give me a place to review them like they do with 3rd party vendors (why is that?). The book was advertised as new, but the spine is bent with a slight fold shape to it, as if it was dropped. Perhaps the fact that it and another book in the same oversized box were poorly padded by a few air pillows loosely thrown in the box caused the damage (?). I have found Amazon's packaging to be unsatisfactory since they went "green". Also, there are remnants of adhesive on the upper right corner of the cover where some label has been removed. Finally, there is a long scratch or cut across the front of the covers of BOTH books! I don't know if Amazon did this so I could not return the books as new, or what. In any case, these things do not adversely affect the book for me, but I wouldn't want to give it to a friend as new, or as a gift.

its a very easy and accurate book to get around in the photoshop elements
even though I'm a seasoned user of photoshop I still refer back to this book every once in awhile to refresh my memory
an excellent book for anyone to learn about photoshop

This is the rosetta stone for all new photoshop users. I gave up on the program-neither the adobe workbook or intuition/experience worked until I got this book. A must have for people who want to take their picts to a higher level!

I jumped from version 2 of PSE to version 5 without ever really 'getting' all the features of V2. This book looks like its going to be just what I need to get the good out of PSE. Dummy for now but hopefully, not for long.
