This system replaced our current system, with which we were displeased; that system had replaced yet another one with which we were displeased. The Panasonic DECT is finally what we were looking for. It has good range. We can talk all over our house, including in the basement, without static. The sound is great. Both of our previous units failed in one or both of these areas. Possibly the best feature is that this unit has a central phone book. You add a name to the directory from any phone, and it is available from any phone. This is such a no-brainer, but very few units actually have this feature. Also, when you clear the "new call" log from any phone, it clears from all. The only down side, and it is really not very significant, is that you must spend a few minutes with the manual in the beginning to get it set up properly (particularly if you want to enable automated access to your phone company-hosted voice mail). Once everything is set up, though, using it is a breeze and very intuitive. We are completely satisfied with this system like we have been with no previous phones. It is also expandable. In fact, we are planning on purchasing one additional phone shortly.

Ok...here's the scoop. I am a review nut...I look at Consumer Reports first...then I look at Amazon...then I look at the product at the store. Let's say I am thorough.

Great design, clear controls, clear display and great sound. I could go on...but I won't. Maybe you could get a phone with similar qualities but you will not find one that is better.

If the price works for you then this is exactly what you want in a cordless phone.

Was looking for a cordless phone with no frills. Only requirement was that it sound good. Unfortunately, this phone did not. Constant static. After a lengthy conversation (45 min) the phone becomes VERY static-filled and can't be used. Have to call the person back using another handset. I have replaced with a Vtech that is $20 cheaper and have no sound quality issues.

This phone system meets my needs in that it provides an appropriate number of handsets, and the sound quality is good. I would have preferred a wider variety of ring tones, a smaller footprint in the base unit, and a less complex menu system. However, overall it is a great product at a great price!

Like everything else these days, this phone is made in China. I bought it for $15 more at Best Buy because Amazon.com refuses to disclose the country of origin for the products it purveys. That policy puts the bricks and mortar businesses in the USA at a disadvatage and costs Americans jobs. I refuse to buy products on Amazon that do not disclose where they are manufactured.
