It's a very fun game at first. There are 4 characters (2 of which you have to unlock) with 8 levels each. You'd think with 4 characters, 32 levels, and endless barrage of different types of zombies there would be some diversity in the game. But the boards, the game play of the characters, the zombies are all basically the same. No matter which character you are playing or what you are fighting, you just hack them with your sword a bunch of times.
It does have cool graphics and the whole theme of the game is very fun. It's just not the kind of game that you play for hours at a time because it is so repetitive.

i wasn't expecting much, but this turned out to be a fun hack & slash with deeper combat-gameplay than i anticipated. this is my first game in the Onechanbara series, so i was utterly lost with regard to the story

Oneechanbara is a deep hack-n-slash game where you play the role of two sexy ladies who are trying to overcome a terrible curse that pushes them to fight. It has lots to unlock and even has rpg elements. It's a ton of fun for a low price.

I got this game when it first came out. Not really the type of game i play either. I'm more the "Tales of Symphonia" or "Resident Evil 4" type of guy. But i thought, eh, what the heck. It looks fun, it has zombies, why not get it.
THE GOOD
This game is a party favourite. I invited my upstairs neighbors down (and his wife's sister and her boyfriend), and after some talking and drinking and overall mellow atmosphere (and a few oatmeal cream pies) i thought, i'd whip this out and play. Just for a change of pace.
wow! everyone loved this game. we all took turns playing, about 15 minutes, and it was a blast. Not hard to learn the controls at all. there's a tutorial/practice section, so we knew what the moves & buttons where. Even though the story isn't very rich, its fun to just slice and lob off zombie parts and dice up giants. The controls were simple, when your arms get tired, you just pass off to the next person. no big deal.
its fun to watch other's play, the action doesn't really seem to get dull when watching either.
The graphics are actually pretty dang good. there's the ability to stop the action, and swing the camera around the character you are playing. you can see the zombies, and the action your character is doing. and the cool part, you can stop the action whenever: a jump in mid-air, a slice, pulling a bloody lump of flesh out of creature, just walking. whenever, and you can zoom in and out and look at the character from any angle. sort of cool.
There's a co-op mode
there are 4 playable characters (one of them is really creepy)
the dialog is in japanese and the text is translated into english, but the voice acting is incredibly good.
THE BAD
I'll start with co-op first. Not really what I had in mind. It's just the two of you slicing zombies. sort of fun, but doesn't progress the story any. there was a time when the graphics completely lagged due to all the blood which had to be rendered.
second: your arms get tired! playing by myself, i did get tired. and bored. Let's be honest, slicing zombies only goes so far. :-/
third: after unlocking a new character (skimpily clad girl) you play the same level's again. Still killing zombies. the only difference is the boss fights. You fight the other 3 girls.
4: the game doesn't tell you that there's save points in the middle of the levels or how to clean the blood off your body (which makes you go crazy and eventually die). Nor does the game tell you how to access items you acquire. sort of had to figure that part out on my own :-(
5. the acrobatics are amazing. but, if you get knocked down. good luck figuring out how to get back up.
Overall, this game is pretty fun. I didn't enjoy playing the game by-myself as much as i did playing with others. The game also leaves a lot of questions. I guess, they want you to buy the 360 version to discover the answers. The acrobatics are very cool, but the not really knowing how to get up and getting pummeled while lying there, was frustrating.
The graphics are very cool. I thought they could've been better, but when there's scores of enemies surrounding you and blood is going everywhere, the Wii actually at times lags. I've also noticed graphics artifacts (hitting through walls, or zombies walking through you)
Don't expect too much from this game, and you'll be impressed. Expect a whole lot and you won't be disappointed, but you might get bored.

Short with little replay value. Doesn't take to long to beat, about 8 missions/chapters. Couple different characters to play, another to unlock, Reiko who can use guns.
Gorewise, it's okay but the graphics could be a lot better. Not really gruesome or anything. If they had PS3 or Xbox360 graphics, I'm thinking it would have made it a lot better and funner.
Killingwise, once you kill an enemy they will drop a yellow experience circle/orb. This part of it is annoying. When you kill a hoard of zombies, you have to walk back and "sweep" up all the experience points. You use those points to level up and there are 4 things for your character to level, those are: Health, Strength, Reach, Skill.
The thing I hated most about this game? That would be the "mudzombies". These enemies cannot be damaged by normal attacks. They either have to use some kind of thrust attack by shaking the remote or going rampage (attacking a lot and building up a blood-meter). Both take a long time to execute, and it gets boring doing nothing but waggling the wii-mote for minutes and minutes for one monster.
If you play this game the first time through pick the "school girl" slayer, I'm pretty sure she can use throws that will kill the mudzombies.
Once I beat it, that was it. It's not total junk though, at least I had enough fun to finish the game and it was bearable up to that point. Which is more than I can say for a lot of games like another zombie killing game "Dead Rising: Chop Til you Drop", which is junk.
