First off Joe is a marvelous man and a genius of the industry. I always enjoyed his work. I was a bit skeptic when I ordered this video since I didn't much like his books, but when I saw this video for the first time I was amazed.
This video contains not only how to use CLS but also how to take amazing breath taking pictures with the CLS system. (Which I own and love as well).
Joe shows in this video how much photography has changed from having to set strobes individually and working with light meters running around like rabbits while the sun is going down to the world of wireless photography and pocket wizards (pocket wizards are not in the video).
Shot angles and where to place the lights and usage of snoots and grids all there.
I really advise to seeing the video more than once and no less then 5 times. (I saw it maybe 2 dozen times now and I keep finding out more things).
This is a must for all Nikon users (and non Nikon users so they know what they are missing :) ).
Hope that helped.

I usually shoot with a Metz CT45 or CT60 strobe, but I wanted to learn more about the nikon flashes and how to use them in different situations, and I was not disapointed at all. The video flows in a natural way, and cover the most important situations one can encounter in at a studio or in the field. Good job to the instructors and Nikon for an excellent video.

As others have said: this is a very clear and informative video on how to use flash lighting. Yes it completely promotes the Nikon CLS flashes but the rules still apply to any lighting. Bob and Joe was the perfect balanced pair for hosting this venture. Bob is college professor style: teaches text book theories and techniques. Joe is like the hands on coach: Shows you the hows and whys. If you are looking for more advanced techniques, this is not it. Although there is one impressive setup at the end utilizing 12 speedlights, it is not anything most people would ever need to do; let alone be able to afford that many lights.
All in all, this is the best video on flash instruction I have seen yet.

While Joe Mcnally's book hot shoe diaries has great photos and some info. The DVD has many more setups and variation on a basic flash shot .While many are simple 1 - 3 speed-lights they fight the urge to use 6 -9 strobes in a setup .
Great for beginners and seasoned Nikon users .

This is a great video that gives clear insight on how to work your speedlights Nikon, Canon, Olympus or my own brand when it comes out the second Tuesday of never. Light is light and it all does the same. Yes this is a Nikon DVD so the products are Nikon, but the same rules apply with any brands. I just switched to Canon and low and behold there flashes can do this to. I might just have to look in the instruction manual for what button I need to do what. Joe McNally is a great photographer and I have been a fan of his stuff for some time now. Seeing him in action alone is worth the price of the DVD but add in all the other instruction and how to's on bounce, fills, slow sync and more and you have a Must have DVD for any photo nut who wants to learn how to use there flash better should have. No matter what brand name they use.
