This external hard drive works fine. Have had it a couple of weeks. Entire body is a heat sink (which is good). Has many interface plugs. Really like the three way mode switch (Off, Auto, On) feature. I would consider the LaCie a professional external drive vs. a consumer external drive (usually smaller; lighter).

I have had the drive for about two weeks now and it does exactly what I need it to do. It works well with Time Machine, feels solid, doesn't make much noise and looks pretty good. The large blue LED might be distracting if it were not for the fact that I have it far below eye level.

I bought 4 of these drives for a project and nearly all of them died within 3 months--after they had lots of data on them. The power supply just went. DON'T TRUST YOUR DATA ON THESE DRIVES!

This is my second LaCie drive (first was 500GB a while back). Performance/reliability/speed/setup/compatibility/etc... all above par. I use this drive with Time Machine to backup my iMac (connected via FW800) and have had no issues. Will continue to buy LaCie drives as long as they continue cranking out quality drives.

Everything is good. I am using it through a USB and these are my only complaints. I usually don't shutdown my computer, but rather have it sleep/standby, and the disks don't turn off, but keep spinning. I don't mind, other than wondering if that will lessen its life. The auto backup is good, it just takes a lot of time and resources to do. I'd rather just drag and drop the files I really want to save. Occasionally the disks inside start to vibrate and make noise, so I've just had to hold it for a second and it goes back to silent. Other than that, this has been great! I like how it is going to last me a long time and is very upgradable with all the different connection options in back. Great so far!
