This is an excellent player with probably the cheapest remote i have ever seen .. But than most of us don't buy anything because it has a good remote but a better one would be nice .. this one is just so basic sort of like one you would get 15 years ago .. even a simple lighted key option would make this a more acceptable remote.
I think the best thing about this was how easy it was to set up network streaming to netflix which is really I use it for, in addition to basic dvd watching and download softare updates. Setting up the networking is maybe 10 minutes and it works flawlessly although net flix doesn't seem to broadcast in dolby 5.1 the stereo sound but played in thx cinema mode is excellant none the less . The picture is superb in both netflix and with dvds .. The sound in general with this blu ray is much better than any dvd player I have had it puts everything in the right spot.
The speed to boot up is twice as fast as my non networked Sony Blu ray. I think having built in wi fi makes this by far the best current choice of any Blu ray hands down

The only draw that I can think of is network is not recognized every time I turn the player on (N-draft). Other than that streams perfectly. Upscales perfectly. Love playing DivX movies from USB drive - saves a lot of time by not having to burn a DVD.
Perhaps slightly overpriced.

I have always wondering why people are leaving these type of comments(criticizing Amazon in product review), and I never figured it out till last night that this is the only thing they could do to relieve themselves. I always had been a big fan of Amazon and assumed they have great costumer service. That is why despite their heftier price tag, I would always go with them, assuming I am paying the premium for their excellent costumer service. Last night I just found that the excellent costumer service is just an illusion (it may not been so couple of years back). I bought LG BD-390 on Amazon last week for 279$ while I could find it as cheap as 250$ elsewhere, and just checked the price again last night and found Amazon is selling the same item for 259$ while others are still giving it away for the same 250$. I called costumer service about this matter hoping they can come up with a solution, quite to my surprise I faced costumer service showing no sympathy and being so rude. I thought that is only an exception and I followed up my complaint by email and the reply I just received is not adding anything to their bad and rude costumer service. I talked with couple of friends and I found out that, they have had bad experiences with Amazon costumer service lately too. I don't know what has changed, but I am not going to buy from them anymore.

During the short period that I have had this player and I'm very pleased with its performance. Its was very easy to setup to the internet through my Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band Wireless Router. The Blu-ray and DVD playback on my 37" LG 37LH40 was excellent. Picture quality streaming of the content from Netflix and Youtube was very good. Having Vudu and Cinemanow is also a great added benefit to other choices for movie selections.

Initial setup was very simple but establishing internet connectivity was very difficult. Upconvert of regular DVD's is very good. Family just loves being able to watch Netflix on-demand material - movies, TV shows, etc. - on our TV rather than PC screens.
Calls to LG support for setup of network connection were not helpful. The rep basically asked why I didn't run a cable to the machine and then blamed the router and my internet service provider for the connection problem. Calls Linksy, the manufacturer of my router, were also not helpful as the router was out of warranty and they would only provide support if I paid a hefty fee. I searched online, upgraded router firmware, pulled hair but still no luck on network connectivity.
I was considering putting the player back in the box to return it when I finally broke down and bought a new Linksys router for around $60. Connection to the new router was a snap and literally took less than 10 minutes.
Moral of the story is the "wow" features of this machine require a reliable internet connection. So you need to consider your home network situation such as the age of router, internet connection speed, etc. when buying this machine. A basic understanding of how to connect devices to your home network is also necessary. Don't expect LG support to be able to help you solve the connection issues.
Once it connected though - wow. Without the internet connection though, its just a plain Blu-Ray player which you could purchase for a significantly lower cost.
