Its a good gadget, the screen is to small for scientific books, but good enough for normal reading.
The main problem is; that residing in Europe there is a lot of books which I do not have access to. Some of it I can understand, New books, not yet released in Europe, but that I am not allowed to buy Arthur Rimbaud - A Season in Hell and The Illuminations I do not get ?

I love my Kindle 2. My husband Kevin surprised me with a Kindle 2 for my 50th birthday. He was so exicited, he tried to give me my present 2 weeks early. He did give me my present 3 days early. Believe it or not I had not heard much about the Kindle 2 but was so exicited to receive it as a gift. I love to read and I am addicted to the Kindle 2. It is the greatest idea. I love how easy it is to down load a book. I also love that you can sample two chapters so you know if you want to purchase the book. I love the built in dictionary. The cost of the book is so much cheaper than buying the book and some books are free. I can not read fast enough to read everything that is on my Kindle 2. Kevin also bought me the cover and 3 books I had wanted. He also downloaded lots of other books. I plan to purchase a night light and many more books soon. I showed the Kindle 2 to lots of folks and I think they will purchase as gifts. We are even buying a Kindle 2 for a work gift for our office party.

I've owned the Kindle for about a month now and have read two books on it. This is a great product.
The e-Ink technology offers a very clear, readable screen, as close to the printed page as you can get. I had always resisted buying electronic readers because I never enjoyed lengthy reading on a cell phone or PDA or even on a computer, although I work on the latter all day. The e-Ink is so much better than a backlit screen.
Purchasing and download books couldn't be easier. I've yet to experience a dead zone on the Kindle's wireless technology, and all books have downloaded in about a minute, as advertised.
I was surprised and pleased at the number of classic title available from the Kindle library for free. These include the complete works of Shakespeare and titles by Dickens, Dostoevsky, London, Conan Doyle and others. I would have brought it earlier for this aspect alone.
    I have two minor quibbles.
I like to read in bed before going to sleep, and reading a printed book allows me to peek ahead on the number of pages left in the chapter before I can put the book down and go to sleep. This is more inconvenient with the Kindle as it may require clicking many times before finding the end of a chapter. A software command or some other way to indicate the beginning of the next chapter would be appreciated.
The other is that charts and graphics are difficult to read on the 6-inch Kindle screen. Although you can adjust for font size, this does not affect charts and other graphics. This was inconvenient with one book I read, "Bailout Nation," which contained many charts and graphs. It would be nice to be able to zoom in on a graph or, better yet, be able to tilt the screen sideways and have the image shift with it, as many cell phones and the bigger Kindle do.
Neither feature significantly detracts from my enjoyment of the Kindle, and I have yet to exploit its best feature: Taking many books on the road during a long trip.

For me the best thing about the Kindle is being able to subscribe to American newspapers and have them delivered on the day of publication. It would be better still if they were delivered earlier. 9 am is too late to read them during the commute to work.

The worst aspects are the VAT that the British government levies on ebooks and the $2 that Amazon charges for the wireless download. That leaves not much difference between the price of the ebook and the price of the print edition. Books also take much longer to download than Amazon promises, thought that's not a big problem.

I'm very happy with my kindle; the only problem is that in Romania the wireless feature is not (yet) working.
