Intel may have release faster CPU, but nothing overclocks like this beast. Just set the FSB to 400MHZ and keep the multiplier at 9 and you have a 3.6 GHZ CPU at stock voltage. That is faster than anything Intel has and yes, it is faster than the the new and expensive Core i7. Just make sure you get the SCLAR G0 stepping for the best overclocking potential.

I purchased this in late 2007 from amazon for my gaming system, it cost me $275 back then. This thing is extremely powerful and stable. No regrets even up to this day.

If you are looking for a CPU and won't buy the new architecture (i7) then this is it. This little thing will blow your daily activities and still be left waiting for more tasks to do. 4 cores means more processing power and multitasking capabilities. You can be downloading something, browser open, running virus scan, burning dvd and playing games.. all at the same time. This will also overclock like no other CPU, matching several other offers that are more expensive. This is the CPU to buy if non i7 build is in the table. Will still get it instead of a i7, because the small difference can't justify the hefty price tag for new ram and board.

Processor is very powerful, has alot of options for overclocking, but tends to get rather hot. Be generous with the thermal paste and I'd reccomend an upgraded fan.

This processor is quite stable, it is heated a little more. Intel heatsink is very good and super silent. In graphic design programs and 3d programs manages the data of excellent multimedia and gaming. Good Performance.
