FC Twin Video Game System

FC Twin Video Game System see short title

Product Rating:
The FC Twin can play both NES and SNES cartridges. The top-loading design corrects many of the issues experienced with the original consoles, including the 'blinking red light'. The A/V output, while not as perfect as the original NES model 001, provides great picture and sound quality.

Well I've got to say the unit sucks. It is cheaply made and I went through two units before I decided to purchase a Retro Duo. Both FC Twins that I purchased had different problems. The first unit burnt the SNES portion of the board when I tryed playing Zelda, the second FC Twin only had sound in one channel for the SNES. However the Nintendo, (which was never a stereo game system) does, lol. The two controllers come with a very cheap feel and have a short wire to the unit. So be ready to either to use a original SNES controller or get a SNES extention cord. Well I've got to say other than the cheapness of the product, you can play both SNES and NES games no problem, there are a few games that will not work but nothing that I would really get upset about. If you are trying to decide between the FC Twin and the Retro Duo, please, for the love of God, dont waste your money on the FC Twin and get the Retro Duo.

This system is an excellent choice. For those looking to make an investment, buy this instead of 2 separate systems. Save space, time, money, maintenance. We ended up buying 2 additional SNES controllers just so we could have extra long cords, but still a great console. Some older games you will need to use a qtip and clean out the 20 years of dust for the cartridge to work. But after you do that, pretty much any game will work here. I've even gotten Star Fox (SNES), which has some special chip inside the cartridge, to work properly with this console. Now the only question is should you buy this one or Yobo's new FC3 instead? I am looking into that...

When I started looking into getting another NES or Super NES, I saw the prices just for one of the systems was borderline ridiculous. That's when I stumbled upon the FC Twin in my internet search. And I am glad I did!

Though sometimes it takes some "effort" to get the NES games to work, once they did it's just as good an experience as I had with my original NES. The SNES side works flawlessly and it's great to relive some teenage marathon gaming sessions.

I agree with others on the controllers, though it's a minor gripe. If you want to play at a decent distance, you definitely need either an original SNES controller or an extender. As for the "lightness" of them, it's never bothered me.

I would not let the very limited nature of what will not play on the FC Twin stop you, unless you REALLY have a "jones" to play those games. Especially if you are an RPG fan, while Super Mario RPG doesn't work, all the FF games work and that in itself should be plenty.

This comes highly recommended, whether you grew up with these games and want to revisit those times, or whether you want to see what I consider the "golden age" of home gaming was all about.

Disclaimer: This comes from a gamer who, in his teenage years, played his NES SO MUCH that I actually melted the two parts of the AC Adapter! A little Super Glue did the trick though. :)

i bought this for my wife for her birthday.
    it plays the games well.
we had a glitch with the controllers reaction
to movement when game gets going fast.
we will play more to see if it keeps doing it.
ill send controllers back for replacement if it does.
but overall we like the unit.
    good idea

I bought the twin for the same reason anyone would. To play some old school games. Every NES I had crashed and I'm simply trying to preserve my SNES (still the original).

It was so much fun. I popped in Dragon Warrior, Fzero, Kirby games, Zelda, and tons of other great games that just take me back.

Well, that's all over now. System crashed. It absolutely refuses to turn on. I tried a different AC to see if that was it. No Joy. Apparently I'm supposed to play without power.

Spend a bit extra and go ThinkGeek. Get the Retro Duo.
