Have had VS for 2 months. It is user friendly. Easy to make good looking vids in a matter of mins. I bought the VS tutorial (from another source) and that was a real help. The tutorial is for VS 11 but it works just fine with Pro X2. The simple things such as overlays - effects - titles - sound tracks are easy to put together. There has been no crashes or freeze ups so far as earlier versions of VS were prone to do. It works with 32bit XP and 32bit Win 7 without a problem. I have used it for making a picture slide show (fancy one) for the local Moose Lodge's website and it works great (you have to buy a 3rd party web viewer software). It is especially good at making Flash .flv files. The web viewer software uses this type of file for video streaming. All in all for the price you can't go wrong unless you are making a hollywood film.

Disclaimer: I'm not a video-editing expert by any means, and I wasn't looking for something to rival Final Cut. I just needed a piece of software that would allow me to edit video snippets into a professional package for pub quizzes I put together weekly. I also wanted a decent DVD maker that wouldn't choke on mysterious codecs. To that end, I needed something simple and reliable. I didn't need the bells and whistles some might. For my purposes, this app works very well.
It has more of a learning curve than I expected. It has more features than less expensive editing apps I've tried so the interface is more complicated than I needed. But I think most users will like the app's extended functionality. I do wish the instructional booklet were more user-friendly. I had to go online to troubleshoot most of the time.
That being said, once I got my editing method down the app was great for what I needed. The resulting videos are high in quality. The sound features and the transition filters in particular add a professional sheen to my work. And the app outputs and/or converts my video files to many different formats pretty cleanly.
If you've got some v-editing experience under your belt, you'll probably jump right in. In general, I really like Corel apps and I haven't been too disappointed with this one.

THIS REVIEW APPLYS ON TO AVCHD
I have been using ulead 4 upto 11.5 plus and decided to upgrate to corel videostudeo pro x2. I have been happy with ulead video 11.5 in creating AVCHD disks (played both on my blue ray players and PS3).
1 Corel pro x2 created disk that can not play on any machine.
2. If I load more than 10 min of AVCHD files ( recorded from canon HF11), programs will crash. My PC is HP quad core 9500, 6 gig memory, 1 gig video card).
DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU PLAN TO EDIT AND BURN AVCHD. About DVD, I have not tried yet.

I picked the Corel ProX2 as the lesser of all the evils I reviewed. It appears all video software is a nightmare.I know Adobe is supposed to be the best, but at my age I don't have the time to go to college to learn it. As someone said the manual isn't much good and I got more info on Youtube. Most of my learning has come by experimenting and hit and miss, and I have gotten some really cherished DVDs with pictures, old converted VHS clips converted and music I get off Itunes. Combine all this with graphics and special effects and you can get some great results with alot of patience. My main complaint is the production time and burn time is foreeeeeverrrr!!

I have no idea what happened to this software and neither does Corel, although they wanted $15 to tell me that.
I was working with this software for 6 weeks on one project. After 3 weeks I burned a DVD to see how it would look on my HD TV. It was beautiful. I continued for another 3 weeks and tryed to burn another DVD. The program had dropped 4 video files and would not Relink to the clips. I was able to find a way to get them back into the project by sheer luck. I then tried to burn the disc. No Way, total non function.
After 2 repair cycles and 2 reinstals the same results.
My next move is something I wouldn't recomend to anyone. I Upgraded to Windows 7 ( but that's a whole other story )
More trys at Repairs and Reinstallations to no avail.
Enter the Tech Help Line. "We've never heard of that problem but a probable cause is "OTHER BURNING PROGRAMS" on your computer. You should uninstall them." This is the point that I set out to find that village that's missing their idiot. I actually did that, and it didn't change a thing.
Then I uninstalled it and Downloaded the Trial version. Same result.
Thus I find myself back at Amazon looking for another HD Software Program that can hopefully save my project.
