After two years on the origional battery, I am ordering a replacement as my first generation kindle is needing frequent charging---every ten hours or so. Needless to say, I'm am pleased and hope the second battery works as well.

Like many others, I had to replace my battery after 9 months on a first generation Kindle which, quite frankly, I didn't use that often. Based on other reviews of the same problem I decided to buy two new batteries. I assume that this will happen again and at least I won't be stranded on a long plane flight with no reading material.

The original battery in the Kindle died for reasons I don't understand. The replacement battery was a bit difficult to install, but it works fine.
