This 2.1 sound system performs good and the sound quality is very good. When compared to other 2 and 2.1 speakers the Bass is not too high even at reasonable loudness. When I received the speakers I was disappointed to see the speaker and woofer front's made with black cloth/paper.... easily damageable...., but very satisfied on its performance... a good first buy for speakers.

This is my third set of Altec Lansing 2.1 computer speakers. Previous sets I've owned offered deeper bass and produced more sound without distortion. Though this set is a few dollars cheaper than sets I've owned previously ($50 vs. $75), I expected more sound and deeper bass, based on reviews found here at Amazon. It isn't a bad set of speakers, they are merely mediocre. I recommend shelling out a few extra dollars for the Altec Lansing VS4121 set if you're looking for bass and volume.

my 'brand new' speakers weren't working and I wasn't sure if it was a system problem or the speakers just broke. i've tried fixing the system and nothing changed so i decided to try to get new speakers... i saw these and read previous reviews...the reviews AND the price got me so i ordered them. delivery was fast and setup was extremely easy. and boy, the sound was awesome...the bass is slightly distorted, but still awesome.... almost like listening to a really good boom box radio, lol. i saw the same set in another retail store for almost $60!!! so this is really a good set for the pricing. you won't be disappointed unless you're a true audiophile... but it's still good... i would recommend this to all my friends and family.

Received the speaker with great anticipation. The sound output is pretty powerful and the bass is pretty strong. I am not really a audiopedia for sound effects so the tone setting syn with the woofer comes in handy.
The only setback is there are no audio jack from the speakers. This is not a big concern for me as im using lappy most of the times, but those ppl who are using this as desktop my find this an issue cos of the inconvenience to plug the earpiece.

These speakers are very nice. I got these for my 16 yr old son, and he LOVES them. They are kind of big and he had a difficult time fitting them onto his small table next to his bed, so he had to clear off the top of his dresser and position them up there. The sound quality is very good. He especially likes the base. When he listens to music either in the car or in his room, he always boosts up the base and he really liked that with these speakers. They are easy to hook up so anyone can do it. After looking at the speakers, you can tell they are very good quality and will last a long time.
